The Mind at Sea

La Tête en mer

Elsewhere, there is a split. She confronts the gaze with her ambiguity. Wanting to go beyond the bubble of an ever-present amount, the sea evokes as much as it snatches, absorbs and offers at the same time. Completely outside, or fully inside, La tête en mer try to catch this transition that never really happens.
In several chapters, the photographer invites this extra-terrestrial into the intimacy of the sailor. Before leaving, already back, imagining life on the ground, in his own gaze on him or turned to the outside, the other, his thoughts become liquid, between two worlds to which he can not belong. His mind shaped by the materiality of a dream, he keeps his head at sea.

An analog filter when shooting naturally imposes these distortions and this veil of color. Green opens up the field of our dual nature, as only the sea can do. In immersion or submerged, it is a desire already exceeded as a nostalgia which no longer awaits.
